MAKING MOULDS FOR PRESTON HALL FOUNTAIN MERMAIDS

This was the only original Mermaid statue left on the fountain and unfortunately it had sustained some considerable damage.   J H Builders had to safely remove this four foot plus piece of stone, from the area and transport it to our workshop.

Having cleaned and repaired this original piece of work, J H Builders then started to create a mould from fibreglass and rubber, to enable the statue to be duplicated as four were needed.

J H Builders were able to start to pour rubber once the fibreglass casing was complete.  This process took some considerable weeks to do due to the size and intricacy of the item.  The age of the stone had to be considered and handled with care.

Having created three new Mermaids, these were aged and then installed onto the base of the Grade II listed fountain, ready for reinitialisation.
